The Oyster Shack
Private collection, Savannah, Georgia.
This is one of my favorite non Indiana paintings. The scene is on the Henry Ford Plantation property in Richmond Hills, Georgia just south of Savannah. The ground all around the shack, and this spectacular wind damaged oak tree was covered with thousands of oyster shells. The Ogeechee River is just out of the scene to the left flowing out through salt marshes to the Atlantic.
